Safety plays a key role in ensuring the success of any business.
Be Proactive,
not Reactive!
Navigating through the minefield that is health, safety and welfare can be tricky and unnecessarily costly both in terms of time and money.
At Aegis Compliance we work with businesses to cut through the jargon and deliver simple, accurate advice and guidance. See below for more detailed information on our services.
Risk Assessment
Dispelling the myths
A lot of people involved in Health & Safety view the creation of numerous risk assessments as a tedious task, one that takes more time than they have and often this leads to poor quality and inaccurate assessments which are not fit for purpose and can leave both people and businesses exposed to hazards and risk.
The purpose of a risk assessment is to understand what hazards exist in a process, use of equipment, procedures etc to correctly look at ways of minimising the risks and keeping people, assets and business reputation safe.
We can complete accurate, high quality risk assessments which align with your safety policies and are specific to the task or process which will help to reduce outturn costs and build and enhance your business reputation.
COSHH/DSEAR Risk Assessment
When are these assessments required
If your business uses chemicals and substances the likelihood is you have a COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) risk assessment - somewhere!
Things like cleaning products, chemicals and substances used within your business for the manufacture of your product etc.
However, some substances also fall under DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) and you will require a separate, specific risk assessment for each product which poses a higher risk. If the end users are unaware of the risks this can lead to dangerous events including explosion, asphyxiation and even loss of life.
We can visit your business to assess your chemicals and substances and any procedures which may give rise to a dangerous atmosphere, including woodworking shops with a high level of dust, and complete a full assessment of the hazards and risk and leave you with a safe system of work and advice and guidance on your processes, and often, effective chemicals substitution and process amendment, but less of a hazard and less risk.
Safety Audits
Why these are essential
OK, so you have been in business for several years, things are going well and you have had no issues - that you know of.
One of the biggest factors relating to accidents and incidents is complacency which is a natural process which creeps in when things are going well.
However, we all know that unreported incidents and accidents happen, which can lead to the development of a poor safety culture amongst staff and, in turn, can lead to events that may have to be externally reported, costing the business far more than the required cost of safety.
We are committed to helping you identify issues in safety culture & safety management systems by carrying out safety audits. This can be on a process, procedure, documentation or risk assessments, policies or SSOW (Safe Systems of Work) which will give you the information on how safe your business actually is.
Safety auditing is a simple process which identifies good practice alongside shortfalls or gaps in safety both physical and person centred and we are here to assist you with ensuring your business is operating to the highest levels of safety, keeping your staff, visitors and reputation safe.
